The Lost & Damned is an Xbox Live Record Breaker
Microsoft today announced that Grand Theft Auto 4's The Lost and Damned expansion pack was an Xbox Live record breaker as it eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content.
I know the cynical ones out there will put that down to the 1,600 Microsoft Point price tag, but those who've played it will share my view that 1,600 points was a bargain for the amount of gameplay and additions you get for your cash. We'd still be interested to see an exact number of how many units it shifted but we'll doubt we'll see that any time soon, if ever.
“The success of ‘Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned’ redefines what consumers expect from Game Add-ons,” said Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox LIVE. “Content like this is extending the lives of our favorite games and fundamentally changing the way we play.”
Whilst we find it funny that Whitten uses stupid terms like "Game-Add-Ons" instead of the already accepted downloadable content (DLC) term which we will use till our dying days, the man does have a point. Rockstar definitely have redefined what consumers expect from their DLC now, so everyone else needs to sit up and pay attention.
Congrats Rockstar ... you rich buggers!

Can't say I am really surprised by this fact.
GTA is a gold mine isn't it?
